A Program Designed for Your Goal

Every session is a full hour programmed for you. Some clients want two total body sessions a week to get strong and look better. Others want to master a gymnastics skill, build a bodybuilding physique, or prepare for a specific test or event. Rob chooses the exercises, the weights, and the progressions based on your goal and how you move today, then adjusts them as you improve.

Your Coach Is With You Throughout the Session

Each session lasts 60 minutes and starts with a warmup, followed by training built around your goal. Rob coaches you through every part of it, with clear instruction on technique, feedback as you move, and an explanation of why each piece is there.

Progress Tracked Every Week

Rob tracks your progress weekly against your goal. For a client preparing for a Space Force fitness test, that meant timing her 200 and 400 meter run splits each week. For another client, it meant counting how many wall balls she could do without stopping, then adding reps as she improved. You’ll always know where you stand.

Recurring Appointments That Fit Your Week

We’ll find recurring appointment times that fit your schedule and our coaching availability. A standing appointment makes consistency far easier. If something comes up, we ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.

Meet Your Coach: Rob Zych

Rob opened CrossFit Secaucus in 2012 and has been coaching here ever since. He is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer whose experience spans strength training, CrossFit, bodybuilding, strongman, and Olympic weightlifting. Every personal training session is coached by Rob himself.

A note from Rob:

“When someone sits down with me, I want to know four things. What can you do comfortably right now? What has gotten in the way before? What are you hoping to change? And what does your week really look like? There’s no one size fits all here. I meet every client where they are and program for them specifically, whether that means two strong total body sessions a week or a plan built around a test date. Most people I meet aren’t short on motivation. They’ve just never had a plan that fit their actual life. That’s the part I can help with.”

Who Personal Training Helps

Most of the people Rob trains are adults with full lives: busy professionals, parents, and people who have noticed that what worked in their twenties doesn’t fit anymore. They come in wanting to get stronger, improve their fitness, change their body composition, or return to exercise after months or years away.

If you’re starting from scratch, that’s where we start too. One client couldn’t yet do a bodyweight squat when we began. We spent weeks building a solid squat and better posture before adding a light dumbbell, then heavier ones, then belt squats. Nobody gets rushed onto a barbell before they’re ready.

Experienced clients come to Rob with specific targets too. That has included a Marine who needed to learn to climb a rope safely, a first time HYROX competitor, clients preparing for military and Space Force fitness tests, and athletes getting ready for CrossFit competition. For goals like these, Rob first assesses where you are on each event, then builds a realistic timeline and a program around those exact movements.

2.

Sit Down With Rob

We’ll talk about your goals, your training history, what has held you back before, and your weekly schedule. There’s no workout and no pressure to sign up.

3.

Review Your Options

If personal training is a good fit, Rob will recommend how often to train, walk you through pricing and your total investment, and find recurring appointment times that work.

4.

Begin Training

Your first sessions show Rob how you move and how familiar you are with each exercise. If you have a deadline, like running 1.5 miles in under 15 minutes, he’ll measure where you are today and lay out a realistic timeline. If you aren’t sure where to begin, he’ll build a strength baseline and ease you in.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need CrossFit experience?

No. Rob regularly coaches people who have never set foot in a CrossFit gym. Your program starts from your current abilities, not ours.

  • Do I have to join group classes?

No. Personal training can be your whole program. Some members combine the two, and Rob can program your personal training sessions around the classes you attend.

  • Should I choose personal training or group classes?

Personal training suits people who want individual attention, have a specific goal, or prefer a standing appointment with one coach. Group classes suit people who enjoy training alongside others in a structured, coached setting. If you’re unsure, that’s exactly what the free consultation is for.

  • How much does personal training cost?

Personal training comes in three commitment levels: Build (two sessions a week), Advance (three sessions a week), and Elite (four or five sessions a week). The more often you train, the lower your rate per session. Rob will walk you through every option and your total investment at your free consultation, before you commit to anything.

  • How long is each session?

    Every session is 60 minutes.

  • How are appointments scheduled?

We set recurring weekly appointment times that fit your schedule and our coaching availability. We ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session.

  • Do you offer personal training for adults over 40?

Yes. Many adults start training or return to it after 40, and your program is built on your abilities, goals, and schedule today. You don’t need to train the way you did in your twenties to get stronger and fitter now.

  • I haven’t exercised in years. Can I still start?

Yes. Your program begins from where you are today, not where you were years ago. If you’re managing an injury or a medical condition, we’ll ask you to check with your doctor first and work within that guidance.

  • Will personal training help me lose weight?

Personal training can help you get stronger, fitter, and more consistent. Changes in body composition also depend heavily on nutrition, sleep, and daily habits, so results vary from person to person. Nutrition coaching is available as a separate program with Coach Debbie, and we’re happy to explain the options at your consultation.
